As stated on another page on this site, consistent and systematic strategies within the classroom to master vocabulary is one of the greatest ideas for increasing scores on standardized tests. Attached below are general ideas for implementing vocabulary in the classroom as well as vocabulary cards for grades kindergarten through fifth grade. Most all of these vocabulary words are also part of the common core curriculum. Look at the cards on your grade level and the level above and below so that you can fill gaps that may exist with your students and mathematics terminology.

These cards may also give you some ideas to add to your vocabulary notebooks or other activities that you may be using in your classroom to embed math terms. Make vocabulary practice a daily part of your math lesson by reviewing or introducing terminology.
