What's Happening on the Web? Three great activities for base ten concepts are found at http://www.learningbox.com/base10 I thought Estimation, BT Bear's Catch 10, and Manny's Rumba were all great. I could see where Manny's Rumba could be used as a Promethean Board whole group activity with each child being able to come up and take a turn! There are hundreds of websites for supplementary mathematics activities, problems, and materials. Some are mediocre and some are excellent. A short list of the very best would have to include: Cynthia Lanius’ Math Projects at http://math.rice.edu/~lanius/Lessons/ Ask Dr. Math and the Math Forum at http://mathforum.org/dr.math/dr-math.html http://mathforum.org/ Aunty Math at http://www.dupagechildrensmuseum.org/aunty/index.html Mega Math at http://www.c3.lanl.gov/mega-math/workbk/contents.html Shodor Educational Foundation at http://www.shodor.org/curriculum/index.php National Library of Virtual Manipulatives at http://matti.usu.edu/nlvm/nav/vlibrary.html IT"S YOUR TURN! Email me at wallacel8@k12tn.net with your favorite web sites. I will add them to the web page for everyone to enjoy. Angie Robinson, Sycamore 4th likes http://www.mrsrenz.net |
